The Tarsar Marsar Trek is a crown jewel of Kashmir, taking you to the twin alpine lakes of Tarsar and Marsar. Experience lush meadows, wildflowers, pine forests, and the serenity of camping beside crystal-clear lakes. This moderate trek is perfect for those seeking a peaceful Himalayan adventure with breathtaking scenery and cultural richness.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival at Aru (from Srinagar). Acclimatize and camp near the Lidder River.
  • Day 2: Aru to Lidderwat (10 km) – Walk through pine forests and meadows along the Lidder River to Lidderwat campsite.
  • Day 3: Lidderwat to Shekwas (6 km) – Scenic trail through flower-filled meadows and gentle ascents to Shekwas pastures.
  • Day 4: Shekwas to Tarsar Lake (5 km) – Trek to the turquoise Tarsar Lake and camp beside its pristine waters.
  • Day 5: Tarsar to Sundarsar via Tarsar Pass (7 km) – Cross Tarsar Pass, descend to Sundarsar Valley, enjoy snow walls and waterfalls.
  • Day 6: Marsar Lake viewpoint and back to Homwas (11 km) – Early hike to Marsar viewpoint, return to Homwas by evening.
  • Day 7: Homwas to Aru and drive back to Srinagar (13 km) – Final descent to Aru, return to Srinagar by evening.
