Overview

The Kedarkantha Trek is a magical winter experience with snow-clad forests, peaceful campsites, and majestic views. Located in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary, Uttarkashi, it’s ideal for both beginners and experienced trekkers. The summit offers panoramic views of Swargarohini, Bandarpoonch, Black Peak, and Ranglana. The route passes through pine, oak, and rhododendron forests, with picturesque campsites like Juda Ka Talab and Hargaon.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Dehradun to Sankri (6,400 ft) – Scenic drive via Mussoorie, Yamuna Valley, pine forests. Overnight in Sankri.
  • Day 2: Sankri to Juda Ka Talab (9,000 ft) – Trek through pine forests and snow trails to the frozen lake. Camp overnight.
  • Day 3: Juda Ka Talab to Kedarkantha Base Camp (11,250 ft) – Gradual ascent through forests and meadows. Sunset views at base camp.
  • Day 4: Summit Day – Kedarkantha Peak (12,500 ft) and back to Hargaon (8,900 ft) – Early morning climb for sunrise and Himalayan views. Descend to Hargaon.
  • Day 5: Hargaon to Sankri and Return to Dehradun – Final descent and drive back to Dehradun.
