Overview

The Chopta Tungnath Trek is a classic Himalayan trek to the highest Shiva temple in the world, with stunning meadows, forests, and panoramic views of the Garhwal Himalayas. Ideal for beginners and nature lovers.

Itinerary

  • Day 1: Haridwar to Chopta (Drive – 200 km) – Scenic drive via Devprayag, Rudraprayag, and Ukhimath. Overnight in Chopta (8,790 ft).
  • Day 2: Chopta to Tungnath (Trek – 3.5 km), Tungnath to Chandrashila (Trek – 1.5 km), return to Chopta – Trek through meadows and rhododendron forests to Tungnath Temple (12,073 ft), then ascend to Chandrashila summit (13,123 ft) for panoramic views. Return to Chopta.
  • Day 3: Chopta to Haridwar (Drive – 200 km) – Return drive via the same route. Trek ends.
